Beyond work
Anak Langit, “Child of the Sky”
Saturday · 13 October 2001 · after Maghrib. A personal project: the sky over Jakarta on the evening Rahmat was born, rebuilt in 3D.
Born after Maghrib, under a red Mars
Rahmat was born shortly after the sun set over Jakarta. The western sky was still orange, and Mars shone red almost directly overhead.
By the Umm al-Qura calendar, that night was already 27 Rajab, the night commemorated as Isra Mi'raj.
Scroll down: the sky behind the text follows you from the horizon to the zodiac wheel.
Three main markers: the Sun, the Moon and the horizon
Sun
☉︎Libra 20°
The scales of the goddess Astraea. Fair, diplomatic, with an eye for beauty, always looking for balance.
Moon
☽︎Virgo 4°
An old crescent, only 16% lit, three days before the new moon. Feelings are processed through care and practical work.
Ascendant
↑Aries 28°
At Maghrib the Sun sits at the setting point, so what rises in the east is the sign opposite Libra. First impression: bold, spontaneous, direct.

Jakarta · 18:15 WIB · 6.2° S
This map faces upward, as if you were lying down and looking at the sky: north at the top, east on the left. The edge of the circle is the horizon and the centre is the zenith.
Mars overhead
The only bright planet in the sky was Mars, 71° above the horizon, red and bright (magnitude −0.2). The Moon, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn were all below the horizon.
Twilight not yet dark
The Sun was only 8° below the western horizon, so the western sky was still glowing. Mercury clung to the Sun and set with it.
Stars in view
Altair was almost at the zenith, with Vega and Deneb to the north. In the southwest, Antares, the heart of Scorpius, was sinking toward the horizon. In the east, Fomalhaut and the Square of Pegasus were rising.

The zodiac wheel
Each planet is placed at its ecliptic degree at birth. The lines through the middle mark the angles between planets (aspects) read by ancient Greek astrology. Drag the wheel to turn it.

Strongest sign
Mars at the top of the sky
Mars in Capricorn 20°, only 5° from the Midheaven. The Aries Ascendant makes Mars the ruler of the chart. Mars is also at its strongest placement (exaltation).
Tightest aspect
Sun □ Mars 90.3°
Almost exactly 90°. In classical readings: great drive and determination, but easily friction with others.
Protector
Jupiter in Cancer
Jupiter is also in its exaltation. Two exalted planets in one chart is rare.

Rajab 1422 AH
Born on the night of Isra Mi'raj
In the Hijri calendar the day changes at Maghrib, so a birth after Maghrib falls on the next date. The Umm al-Qura calendar (Saudi Arabia) and the Indonesian government calendar differ by one day that month.

Isra Mi'raj holiday, 1422 AH
Indonesian calendar: 27 Rajab
New moon: 16 Oct
By Umm al-Qura, Rahmat was born exactly on the night of 27 Rajab, the night commemorated as Isra Mi'raj. By the Indonesian calendar, he was born two nights before the commemoration, in the same week.
The exact date of the Isra Mi'raj event itself is still debated by scholars; 27 Rajab is the most common commemoration date.
One birth, six ways of reading it
The same evening through the traditions
Javanese
Primbon · Pawukon · Pranata mangsa
Minggu Pon, neptu 12, wuku Mandasiya
Sabtu Pahing 18
Minggu Pon 12
Senin Wage 8
At Maghrib, the day and the pasaran change together. The pasaran order is Legi → Pahing → Pon → Wage → Kliwon, so after Saturday Pahing comes Sunday Pon. That Saturday night is called the night of Minggu Pon.
Weton: Minggu Pon (5 + 7 = 12), Javanese date 26 Rejeb 1934. The preceding Saturday Pahing has neptu 18, the highest of the 35 wetons.
Wuku Mandasiya, protected by Batara Brahma (fire). Tamarind tree, the platuk bawang (woodpecker).
Mangsa: 13 October is the first day of Mangsa Kalima, the start of the rainy season: pancuran emas sumawur ing jagad, a golden fountain scattered across the world.

Metal Snake, day master Yin Earth
Elements: Earth 3, Metal 3, Fire 1, Water 1, Wood 0.
Yin Earth is likened to garden soil: patient and nurturing others.
Lunar date: the 27th day of the 8th month. Year nayin: White Wax Metal.
The hour pillar 癸酉 applies to births before 19:00. If the birth were between 19:00 and 21:00, the hour pillar would be 甲戌 (Yang Wood, Dog).
Greek & Roman
Hellenistic · Pythagoras
Night chart, led by the Moon
Sect: born after sunset, so a "nocturnal" chart. The sect leader is the Moon.
Roman day: Dies Saturni. Romans change day at midnight, so for them Rahmat was born on Saturday, while Javanese and Hijri reckoning had already entered Sunday.
Planetary hour: the first hour after sunset on Saturday is ruled by Mercury (Chaldean order), roughly 17:46–18:46.
Numerology: 1+3+1+0+2+0+0+1 = 8: ambition, leadership, material affairs.
Indian
Jyotisha · sidereal
Surya in Kanya, Chandra in Magha
Surya (Sun) in Kanya (Virgo) 26°, nakshatra Chitra.
Chandra (Moon) in Simha (Leo) 10°, nakshatra Magha, the star of the throne.
Lagna (ascendant) Mesha (Aries) about 4°.
The sidereal zodiac is shifted about 24° from the Western zodiac, so the Libra Sun of the West becomes Kanya in India, and the Western Aries 28° ascendant becomes Mesha 4°.
Sundanese
Paririmbon
Minggu Pon, naktu 12
Paririmbon uses the same basis: the day and the pasaran are added to give the naktu. The pasaran names differ slightly (Legi is called Manis, Kliwon is called Kaliwon). The day also changes at Maghrib, so the result matches the Javanese count.
Balinese
Pawukon · Otonan
Saniscara Pahing, wuku Langkir
Bali uses the same 30 wuku, but days are generally counted from sunrise. By the Balinese count, Rahmat was still born on Saturday.
Otonan, the Balinese birthday, comes every 210 days.
How this was calculated
Planet and star positions were computed with PyEphem for Jakarta at 18:15 WIB. If the city or birth time were different, the ascendant and the arrangement of the sky would shift; planet positions in the zodiac would barely change.
The readings are drawn from popular traditions, which differ between sources. Treat them as cultural heritage, not exact prophecy.
A note on method
Mirrors, not prediction
Different traditions read that moment in their own ways. I hold none of them as prediction. I treat them as mirrors: old, thoughtful languages that different cultures built for reflecting on who we are and how we might grow.
The sky itself is plain astronomy. The rest is heritage worth keeping, and an excuse to build something beautiful with the tools I use at work.
